In our ever increasingly global economy, business people often find themselves needing to be on the other side of the world in a matter of hours. Unfortunately, it is not always possible to achieve this with regular air flights. In addition, there are few other technologies available to take the place of private jet charter.  Unfortunately, air charter has some distinct disadvantages.

To begin, private jet charter is very expensive. As the global fuel crisis continues to escalate, the cost of private jet charter is also bound to continue sky rocketing.  That said, for heads of state, or people that are integral to the function of large and prominent businesses, the expense of  jet charter often winds up being a necessity.

One would think that private jet charter is safer than regular air charter. In some senses it is, and in others, it is not. Consider that the pilot will be flying non-stop from one destination to the next. This can easily take 12 hours or more to accomplish. If you have ever driven a car on a long road trip, chances are you have some idea of the kinds of fatigue that a pilot and co-pilot experience during jet charter flights.  

Finally, every business trip will not require the speed of a Concord jet.  Travelers  will still  need to consider what type of private jet charter plane is going to transport them. Today, there are a number of private airline services that offer jet charter. In some cases, the plane that is assigned for your flight may be older, or even less glamorous than the ones used for everyday flight. That said, if speed and time are of the essence, you can at least still be assured the plane has to be kept repaired to minimum standards, and that you will arrive at your destination safe and sound.
